Discover Australia’s Coney Island, St. Kilda

Inspired by the success of NYC’s Coney Island, in the early 20th century Australians built their own amusement park in the seaside community to St. Kilda.

Luna Park was a fitting addition to the beautiful beachside community that had long served as the beachy getaway for Australians looking to escape the city and indulge in an oceanfront getaway, and the park continues to operate today!

As the amusement destination, this area features indulgences of all kinds from the sweet shops that line the old Jewish quarter to the oldest handbrake-operated roller coaster in the world. Your local host will show you how the Victorian-era Aussies relaxed at places like Monarch Cakes and St. Kilda Pier.

St. Kilda is also home to a waddle of penguins, who use the pier as a nesting ground. If you’re lucky, you might even see one on this live virtual tour
